Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS), established in 1969, is a premier society in the country to help towards advancement, dissemination and application of the knowledge of remote sensing technology. The society coordinates its activities through local chapters established in different parts of the country and also publishes a national journal titled "Journal of the Indian Society of Remote Sensing" (JISRS). The ISRS Nagpur Chapter (ISRS - NC), founded in 1992, is the largest chapter in Central India and is providing a forum for resource scientists, remote sensing technologists, planners and decision makers to exchange views and influence the technology development at regional level. The main activities of the Chapter include organizing national and regional level seminars, panel discussions, and lectures from eminent scientists. In addition the chapter undertakes programs to popularize remote sensing & Geo-spatial technologies among school and college students through exhibitions, popular lectures and other activities.
